While at
SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY
The 1999
NCAA Swimmer of the Year and Honda
Award Winner for Swimming & Diving, Martina dominated the
collegiate swimming in the late 1990s. She won 10 individual NCAA titles during
her career at SMU, the second-best total in NCAA history.
Overall, she won
14 NCAA titles as a Mustang,
including four straight 200 free titles, becoming the first
swimmer since Stanford’s Jenny Thompson to win the same event
four times in a row.
Martina ended her collegiate career as a 25-time All-American, and also winning amazing
26 conference (SWC & WAC) titles.
She also received a
