MARTINA'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY PREVIEW
Autobiography of Slovakian Martina
Moravcova, one of the world’s most successful swimmers in
the last decade, was published in December 2003 in her home
country shortly before she was voted as the “Slovakia’s
Sports person of the Year” for the amazing 6th time since
1993. The title of her book is
Martina s rodokmeňom Evy,
which is loosely translated as
Martina with the
pedigree of Eva.
Although intriguing, the title of the book is quite
simple; Eva is the name of the old thermal swimming pool in
the famous Piešťany Spa.
Because her parents’ swimming careers began at Eva it was
only a matter of time before Eva would also become a
starting mark of Martina’s fantastic journey. Today,
Eva no longer keeps track of Martina’s thousands of
kilometers swum there.
Sincerity, frankness and attractive writing style are the
basic characteristics of the true story of Martina Moravcova
which is complemented by all of her statistics, article
quotes, and stories from people in her private and
professional life, such are her coach Steve Collins and the
legendary Don Talbot. The 340 page book contains 20
color and 70 black-and-white pictures, and has been prepared
and written in a close cooperation with a sports
journalist from Slovak daily newspaper Sport. Since
1993, Ľubomír Souček has covered Martina's successful career
practically at all major swimming competitions.
