DALLAS, Texas, March 29, 2005Four-time Olympian and a two-time Olympic silver medalist Martina Moravcova and her current sponsor, swimming apparel maker TYR, agreed to a new four-year contract on Tuesday.

The new contract will make it possible for Moravcova (29) to continue swimming until the 2008 Olympic Games in China.  Moravcova, who became the World and European Champion and Europe’s winningest female swimmer in short course, will get to continue her successful career with the same apparel sponsor that signed her after she graduated from college in 1999.  "I’m very pleased with the terms of the new contract and I look forward to the next four years," said Moravcova shortly after signing the sponsorship agreement.

The terms of the new contract are extremely competitive in today’s women’s professional swimming, with attractive incentives that will make Moravcova want to swim until the 2008 Olympics.  According to her agent and husband Martin Valko, this agreement was more than just a sound business decision for TYR and an easy decision by Moravcova because their long-standing five-year old professional relationship is underscored by their personal friendship.

Moravcova will next appear at the long course World Championships from July
17-31, 2005, in Montreal, Canada.

Moravcova is a native of Slovakia, and a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Applied Economics.  During her collegiate career at SMU, she became the second winningest female swimmer in NCAA history with 10 individual and 4 team NCAA titles.
