DALLAS, Texas, December 4, 2004 - 2-time Olympic Silver medalist and 4-time Olympian Martina Moravcova went on to win amazing 5 Gold medals during the third leg of the 2004-05 FINA SWIMMING WORLD CUP that took place in Daejon, South Korea, on December 2-3.

 

The reigning SC World Champion in the 100m Butterfly won 2 gold medals on the first day of competition in women's 200m freestyle (1:58.07) and the 100m butterfly (58.33), and placed third in the 50m freestyle (25.28).

 

On the second day she completed her sweep by adding three gold medals in the 100m freestyle (54.13), 50m butterfly (26.65), and 100m individual medley (1:00.96).  She is the overall winner of the World Cup Series three of the last four years, and to date, has won incredible 94 Gold medals in the Series.


Martina will swim at the SC European Championships in Vienna, Austria on Dec. 9-12, and plans on competing in the World Cups in Stockholm (Jan 18-19), Berlin (Jan 22-23), Moscow (Jan 26-27), Long Island, NY (Feb 10-11) and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Feb 18-20).

 

Martina is a native of Slovakia, and a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Applied Economics.  During her collegiate career at SMU, she became the second winningest female swimmer in the NCAA history with 10 individual and 4 team NCAA titles.
