June 7, 2008 Four Masters World Records for Martina: Martina won the 100m Butterfly (0:58.81), 50m Freestyle (0:25.74) and 100m Freestyle (0:55.62) at the Texas Senior Circuit Championships in Austin, TX. This meet was a dual sanctioned meet, which means that swimmers registered with the United States Masters Swimming (USMS) could compete in this meet as well and have their times registered and recognized for the Masters rankings and records. Martina has been registered with the USMS for more than a year and she has already occasionally competed at the Masters competitions. While competing in meets registered under the rules of the United States Swimming (such as the Texas Circuit Meets), she represents Dallas Mustangs (DM). As a master swimmer Martina competes for Dallas Aquatic Masters (DAM). All three of her performances in Austin crashed the previous Masters World Records: 100m Fly 1:00.03, 100m Freestyle 0:57.09 and 50m Freestyle 0:25.99. However, in the 100m Butterfly, her 50m split time of 0:27.48 was also faster than the current Masters World Record (0:27.59). Her times are currently being recorded and registered with the USMS. May 18, 2008 Martina won the 100m Butterfly (0:59.06) at the Texas Circuit Meet in College Station, TX She also placed 2nd in the 50m (0:25.42) and 100m Freestyle (0:56.07). May 2, 2008 Martina was inducted into the SMU's Hall of Fame, as a first female athlete and a swimmer. March 30, 2008 Martina has qualified for her 5th Olympic Games at the European Championships in Eindhoven where she placed 6th in the 100m Butterfly with the time of 0:58.74, 9th in the 50m and 100m Freestyle with 0:25.58 and 0:55.59, respectively. In the 100m Butterfly she swam under the A-qualifying Olympic Standard. November 21, 2007 Martina won her 105th gold medal at the World Cup Series. She also collected 6 silvers and 2 bronze medals. She has participated in the following legs of the series: Durban, Singapore, Moscow, Stockholm, Berlin. |
